WHIRLED MUSIC
Guitarist, vocalist, bouzoukist,
multi-instrumentalist, and composer
Greg Herriges creates an eclectic mix of original and traditional
"
whirled music," with a unique approach honed by his study of Asian and other international styles. His music and techniques lean heavily toward
South Asian territory, with roots in the West but branches reaching worldwide. A virtuoso performer and award-winning composer, his music and writing have
found international recognition. His latest honor is a
2009 Bush Artist Fellowship for Music Composition.

original and traditional (Russian) soundtrack music for
Anton Chekhov's
The Cherry Orchard (produced by Hamline
University). He created live and recorded music
(and acted a bit) for In the Heart of the Beast
Theatre's
Beneath the Surface and
Are You Thirsty?.
He was music director and primary composer for the 2010
Minneapolis
Mayday Ceremony, leading a
